Day off reason at a day off

An employee said all staffs include part time worker suddenly, “Please all staffs take part in a lecture at next day off. This is a formal manager’s order. If someone won’t attend this lecture, tell me reason please.”
When I heard this request, I’ve got a feeling that this manager’s order is a violation law because workers are protected by the labor standards act. Why we must explain company our off reasons at a day off? After this employee asking, I soon answered him that I won’t attend it.


Actually I would say to him, I won’t attend a lecture because the day is a day off. Why should I come to work although it’s day off? Can I take a day off other day instead of this attendance except no substitutions?
Of course, I didn’t say that. But I told him that I have to do another job at that time.
Well, I’m not formal employee. I’m working here since 6 years before and a company hasn’t asked me formal employee invitation at once during over 6 years. A company don’t want me for formal employee therefore I can work other job. Absolutely, I’m working here over 8 hours every day except day off thus I can’t get other job but I used this reason for my taking a day off at a day off.
